Ty Smith Born Lexington, KY 1979. Education: Transylvania University (B.A., Spanish, 2002); University of Kentucky College of Law (J.D., Order of the Coif, 2005); admitted to bar: Kentucky (2005); Indiana (2006) United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky (2005); Southern District of Indiana (2006). Practice Area: Personal Injury Litigation Experience: Ty joined the firm in September, 2006, shortly after graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Law. There, Ty was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal and Trial Advocacy Board. He received a membership to the Order of the Coif, reserved for the top 10% of the graduating class. Ty also received numerous CALI Awards of Excellence in individual classes, including Contracts, Torts, Business Associations, and Litigation Skills. Ty participated in several trial competitions, most notably the Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers' Closing Argument Competition. Since joining the firm, Ty has worked on a variety of personal injury cases involving medical negligence, automobile injuries and products liability. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association and the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys. He also speaks Spanish. Ty participates in the "Brightside" clean-up initiative in Louisville and provides pro bono legal services through the Legal Aid Society.
